About Dr. Wiese
Dr. Nancy Wiese was born and raised in Iowa. She graduated summa cum laude from Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa and was selected into Alpha Chi, a national collegiate honor scholarship society. She attended the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa and received a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree (What is a D.O.?). She completed her occupational medicine residency at the University of Cincinnati, where she served as chief resident, and is board certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine. She earned two master degrees, one in Environmental Health from the University of Cincinnati and a second in Business Administration from Xavier University.
She worked as a general practitioner for 10 years, was elected chief of staff of a hospital, served as a medical director for one of the largest healthcare companies in America, provided medical consultation for Fortune 500 companies, and even served as a volunteer team physician for a high school football team.
She is currently an active member of the American Osteopathic Association and the Institute of Functional Medicine. She has given numerous medical presentations with topics ranging from the treatment of low back pain, the role of complementary medicine in the workplace, to red flags indicating inappropriate medical care. In her quest to attain a broad-based knowledge of conventional/mind-body/nutritional/holistic medicine she has attended continuing medical education coursework sponsored by Andrew Weil, MD, Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD, James Gordon, MD and the Institute of Functional Medicine.
Dr. Wiese has been a student of the Pilates method for many years. She has Pilates teacher training from the PhysicalMind Institute and Michele Larsson, Core Dynamics.
